Archive for March, 2007

No matter how I try, I can’t seem to keep this blog on the day I am on. I always get behind. So regular readers will already have noticed how I spent my evening–playing around with the blog layout.

So…do you like? Not like?

I’m hoping that the combination of the tag cloud (all the way at the bottom) and the calendar will make navigating easy. I shook a lot of stuff up, but it’s not the major overhaul I did on, say, my bedroom.

Geez, I’d better get back to writing.

It’s been *checks clock* barely 24 hours since I finished Flame. And I’m going through some serious withdrawal.

I told Bly about it. She pointedly suggested I go write some fanfic. (No, seriously. Pointed. It was at dinner. She pointed her fork at me. Miss Table Manners does not do that. I was frightened.)

But fanfic is writing, and as soon as I fall back in, all that stuff I meant to do doesn’t get done. So when I got back on the computer, I cleaned out my inboxes. Both (the third doesn’t get full) down to less than a page, thank you very much. I also did dishes tonight, and caught up on everyone else’s fanfics. (watching my back for forks all along, I promise you that!)

I need to make a list. At the end of which, I get to fling myself in the pit again.

Yay for pits!

Done, done, done, DONE!!!  Flame is DONE!!!

Hamster

Now I get to spend a few days pretending to care about real life.

I Am Smiling (hee hee, I got smileys…)

On second thought, don’t.

So I’ve been busting ass how long, trying to get the recalcitrant, contrary Flame stuffed into her story by the deadline? The deadline being March. Note the lack of a day in that sentence.

Last night I emailed my friend, who just happens to be the editor. I told her I had twelve updates, but the story wasn’t done yet. How soon–seeing that March is nearly over–did she need my chapters? Because if I had until the end of March, I meant to keep writing to the end (it’s very close) then give myself a couple days away, and then edit like mad. Where if she needed it yesterday, I’d stop writing and start editing now.

She responded that as the magazine isn’t launching until October, and one of the prime movers is, well, moving in the near future, the deadline has been pushed back. Go me for writing, and do what I need to do as far as getting it done.

Sheesh. But I guess it’s just as well. I have long since proven my ability to take as long as you give me to do anything (and frequently a little longer.)

Onward it is!

I don’t know why it happens. Maybe it goes back to when I was sitting in the dining room, scribbling notes and such before or after my fast-food shift. Whatever the reason, I’m grateful.

And I need to remember not to fight it. I get great ideas in fast-food restaurants. So. Note to self: when stuck, go get a burger. Or McGriddle (yum!) or a cup of coffee, because ye gods does it ever work at Starbucks too…

Anyway. We took the cat to get fixed this morning. Drop off between seven and eight a.m., ick. I had intended to be back before Hope got up, but no such luck. So instead of leaving her to get into things and wake up Bly, I took her with.

Long story short, we ended up at Burger King for breakfast. And I’m sitting there, pondering if the Cheesy Tots are worth the money, (I don’t care for American cheese, so I’m voting no) and suddenly I get this picture of a giant door going up instead of splitting in the middle.

So Flame gets to crawl under a huge stone door that’s stuck so low she’s the only one who can get under it. Claustrophobia, anyone?
