547 words in the first sprint. And after, I…meant to strip and make my bed but got distracted by something. I don’t remember what.

472 in the second sprint. I think I did do some dishes after.

631 for the last one. That makes 1716 for the day, and 5328 for the three-day weekend.

And now I’m going to bed.

Riot police detained gay rights activists as they tried to present a petition asking Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, who has called gay marches satanic acts, to lift a ban on the parade.

Nationalists and extreme Russian Orthodox believers held icons and denounced homosexuality as “evil” while a group of thick-set young men turned up with surgeon’s masks, which they said would protect them from the “gay disease.”

“We are defending our rights,” said a young gay man named Alexey, with blood pouring out of his nose after he was beaten up by a man screaming “homosexuals are perverts” opposite the mayor’s office. His attacker was detained.

“This is terrible but I am not scared. This is a pretty scary place, a pretty scary country if you are gay. But we won’t give up until they allow us our rights,” he said.

See?  It really IS a lifestyle choice!  I mean, who wouldn’t make that choice?

Alexey should just come here.  At least no one would witness his humiliation as he lost a fight when drastically outnumbered.  Here we do our gay-bashing in dark alleys, hidden places, with victims tied to fences…

It’s not so bad when it’s hidden, right?

1540 is my total today.  I’m rather disappointed.  Especially as I didn’t get started till late in the day.  I just…puttered.  Some of that was good puttering…I made a Keen wallpaper and cast my bad guy…but most of it was just useless wandering.

*sigh*  I’ve got to get better at this focus thing.

Oh, here is my cast of characters so far.  I’ve also linked them in the gutter, ’cause I like to share.

I have 1,452 words so far today.  Because I’m using a system.  (ooh!)  I’m setting a timer and writing as fast as I can for half an hour.  No getting up, no internet or email, just me and the word processor.  (and the music.  Gotta have the music.)

It’s working.  I’m writing 500 +/- in every sprint!  Whee!!

And I have time for errands.  The last sprint came between a trip to the library, where we miraculously got our hands on the ENTIRE COLLECTORS EDITION leatherbound Calvin and Hobbes, and WalMart, where I really should have stayed out of the home decorating section.  (purple candles.  )

Later–I wrote 2,072 words today.  Wheeeheeheehaaw!  But tomorrow I will try harder to look around.  I accomplished a lot today, but my priorities were less than stellar.  Bly had to clean up the kitchen before she could cook dinner.  Oops.
