I wrote over three thousand words yesterday.

I take that back. I wrote over three thousand words in seven hours.

Go me!

FlyLady says that any task will expand to fill the time allotted. Clearly that’s true. When I faced the fact that I’d better get typing or face defeat (I accepted a 10K for the three-day weekend), I set my timer and started word-warring.  Where most days I write somewhere around three hundred words an hour, yesterday it was over 450.  Take into account that most of those were in word wars where I wrote over 200 in fifteen minutes…

Imagine what I could do if I didn’t spend so much time playing around.  Except…playing around is nourishment for the creative mind (yes, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!) so I guess it’s a good thing.

Now, though–I need another three thousand words today!  Onward!

That’s all I do.  Write passes.  They pay me $13 an hour to write passes.

I’m proud of myself.  I didn’t bite him.  Didn’t even declare an incredible headache and go home.  Not like he would notice how hard everyone had to work to cover the hole I left.

He’s so out of it, he thinks all I do is write passes.

One full moon I will bite him.

I think (can’t recall) that I mentioned I adopted newbies for NaNo.  Well, I’m too tired to talk about that now, but I need to make a note of the “assignment” I gave one.

KD says:  You need to come up with some information.  His name.
KD says:  Her (the dog is female, yes?) her name.
Lurv   likes the word uncanny says:
ya
KD says:
Where they meet.
KD says:
And what’s going on when they meet.
KD says:
Four things.
Lurv   likes the word uncanny says:
ok.
KD says:
okay!  catch you tomorrow night?  When you will be ready to sprint and war to get the meeting written?

Because, by Lork, if she doesn’t get writing soon I’m taking a spork to her.

November is my crazy month. I know, I know, I’m not that sane the rest of the year. But November–well, in November I have an excuse. A defense. Several thousand other insane people I can point to and say, “But Mom! They’re spending the whole month hunched over keyboards typing frantically too!” (For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, go here. Or here, later in November. Right now you probably wouldn’t be able to get on.)

It’s Day Three. I’m at 2,179 before I start writing. Not where I “should” be, but I’m not freaking out. Yet. I’m trying to retain a bit of sanity this time, you see. Hope and Bly are both doing NaNo too, and that means there’s no one to pick up the slack. Therefore I’m pacing myself.

Besides. I’ve been dying to write this story for a year now, and I finally know enough about it and have time and an excuse to do it. Nothing is going to stop me. (barring Acts of God and other Unforeseeable Events. Not available in all fifty states. Purchaser liable for all taxes, titles and license.)

BTW, for any waiting, I finally put up another installment of Shades and Hues. See my fanfic page.
